Goldsmith College’s Ben Pimlott building with ‘Squiggle’ by Will Alsop

July, 2008

Goldsmith College’s 3,600m² Ben Pimlott Building in New Cross, London is another iconic building by Will Alsop.

The new Ben Pimlott building at Goldsmith’s College houses the Art, Computer Science and Psychology departments within a seven storey high aluminium clad rectangular structure.

Three of the elevations are clad while the north façade floods the elevations with light from floor to ceiling glazing. A two-storey chunk of the box has been removed to form an external workspace, balcony and site for ‘The Scribble’, an iconic, irregular metal sculpture that hangs over the edge of the building.
